Advance Knitting I - Creating a Garment
Fall Session 3: November 3, 2016 - November 24, 2016
Workshops: Thursday 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM / 4 week duration
Location: White Plains, NY (Exclusive)
This four week workshop focuses on the skills a designer needs to create a wearable garment.
Week I: Basic Sweater Pattern - Students will use a basic sweater pattern as a template to adapt their own measurements and chose stitch type and trim. Swatches and gauge calculation will be taught.
Week II: Sweater Front and Back - Students will work on their front/back pieces and have one-on-one time with the instructor to learn how to fix mistakes, insert details into their designs and how to convert the basic pattern into many different silhouettes.
Week III: Sleeves - Students will create the most detailed part of their sweater - the sleeves. Focus on this week will be on increasing and decreasing stitches.
Week IV: Construction - In this last week, the pieces of the sweater will be sewn together. Students will be instructed on how to execute button bands, collars and more details for their next garment.
Materials: Students will be responsible for bringing their knitting tools and yarn. The workshop will supply the sweater pattern.
Prequisite: Begin to Knit workshop or confidence in knitting, purling and shaping stitches.
